LES RECHTER'S
1964 HD MARSHALL

Les is a long time member of the club and has been around since the early days of the Car Club. Les brought the car in 1967.
The vehicle was originally used by the Victorian Police Force. It spent its working life at Sale where it was used for traffic work. The car was decommissioned in June 1965.

On completion of its services with the Victorian Police it was traded in with C & G Motors, who subsequently entered it in both Bathurst and Sandown races

Drivers, First Constables Fred Sutherland and Alan Mottram of the Victoria Police Motor Sports Club were Class "A" winners at the Sandown International 6 hour Saloon Car Race, and they also gained Pole Position in Class "D" at Bathurst

The Studebaker script on the front fenders denotes this F3 2 door based Commander model is a Heavy Duty Marshall.
153 were built from from September to December 1963, no more HD Marshall's were built after this date. All Victorian 64 Police Vehicles had a 289 Cubic Inch Truck motors which were signified by a clover leaf stamped near the engine number.
